Doll Eyes

She’s got eyes

Of a doll –

Long lashes and,

Sparkling blue.

She coats her lips

In a rich maroon

That makes her mole

On the left pop.

Nothing other than

Diamonds and, gold

Wraps around her wrist.

There’s a cellar

Filled with antique wine bottles –

Some empty,

Some ageing.

A woman in a white apron

Cooks meals for one,

Often left untouched

On the table for eight.

The beds are lined in satin

With not a crinkle

Of good night’s sleep.

You see,

She’s got eyes

Of a doll –

Lifeless and, empty.
