Did You Hear About The Thompsons?

Did you hear about the Thompsons?

Someone saw the ambulance

Blaring the sirens at eight in the evening

Right before dinner,

Right after Mr.Thompson got home.

They said something about blood and cries,

God knows when hell knocked their door.

Someone said they saw Mrs.Thompson

On a stretcher, washed out and drenched in sweat

And for all one knows, maybe even blood –

They couldn’t see but one could assume, after all.

It’s a pity, isn’t it?

Why, the little girl’s milk teeth have barely fallen

And she’s got her world topples over like this.

But tell me,

Did you hear about the Thompsons?

I haven’t been over that part of the neighbourhood yet

But word travels fast

And rumour has it

Someone saw the ambulance

Blaring the sirens at eight in the evening

Right before the dinner,

Right after Mr.Thompson got home.

Someone said they saw the two having a heated discussion

From their kitchen across the street, behind curtains

And closed windows.

It’s a pity, isn’t t?

With Mrs.Thompson on the last trimester,

And the family shredded at such a stage.

She’d been glowing after the results,

Eating healthy and napping well;

Who would have expected such a fate?

So tell me,

Did you hear about the Thompsons?

Someone saw the ambulance

Blaring the sirens at eight in the evening

Right before the dinner,

Right after Mr.Thompson got home.

Saw, you don’t think

It could have been a broken water, do you?
