We’ve lit up the candles

After years of habituated

Feelings, lifestyle and existence,

We were in a teething phase

With us.

Acts Of Home

It’s been five days, eighteen hours,

Thirty-two minutes and fifty seconds

Since we’ve been staying at my parent’s.

You looked at peace tucked under two layers of blankets

In your disney pjs and faded grey t-shirt,

Dressed To Impress

They’d repainted the gates

To a pastel cyan instead of the usual cream.

There was still a hibiscus tree on the left hand-side,

And a half-filled bucket on the right.

Playground

The sun is still a few hours from setting;

A few hours before the kids come to the park

And compel us to handover the swings to them.

Homeward

Home isn’t always home,

How Home Welcomes You

We were biding Basu Uncle goodbye

When Sharma Aunty walked out with a bucket of water

For the marigolds at her gate.

Family Jitters

I think it’s safe to say that

Your jitters have kicked in.

Vanilla Ice-Cream

Donuts and coffee was our go-to snack.

Well, the coffee was for me and the donuts were for you

Except, I’d get a bite of your donut

And you’d never touch my coffee.
